Twitter's Mobile Location Based Service: Twitter Place

It's Monday! Do you feel refreshed? Although it rained cats and dogs during the weekend, never feel down! Start you day with a big smile:) Let's start our journey of the week!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last week, we have talked about mobile location based services such as Foursquare or Loopt. Indeed, mobile location based services are in the spotlight of customers and companies. Although Foursquare is a front-runner in this industry, a number of other mobile location based services are being launched, making this industry highly competitive. And, it seems like the competition will get fiercer as Twitter also launches its own mobile location based service, Twitter Place.

Twitter announced that its new service will build a cooperative system with Foursquare. Unlike Fourquare in which you only could locate yourself in terms of latitude and longitude, Twitter Place allows you to add restaurants or stores as new places. After adding the places, you can send tweets to your followers. Basically, it is like a check-in system in Foursquare.

What's more special about Twitter Place is that you can search tweets that are related to the place you are now in. As you can see in this photo, if you search Burlingame, CA, you can see tweets related to Burlingame, CA.

Twitter Place has been launched in 65 countries. You can download Twitter Place apps if you are using iPhone or Android. Will Twitter Place succeed in gaining market share this industry? Let's wait. Only time will tell.
